"Inception" 2010 Film Review

I usually don't write reviews for films that are still on theatres.
But I saw Inception the other night and it blew my mind.
I just had to write something about it.
Inception is a 2010 American science fiction action film written, produced, and directed by Christopher Nolan. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprioKen WatanabeJoseph Gordon-LevittMarion CotillardEllen PageTom HardyCillian MurphyTom BerengerMichael Caine, and Dileep Rao
DiCaprio plays Dom Cobb, a thief who extracts information from the subconscious mind of his victims while they dream. Unable to visit his children, Cobb is offered a chance to regain his old life in exchange for one last job: performing inception, the planting of an idea into the mind of his client's competitor.

Star Rating:***** (5/5)

First of all, to watch this movie and grasp the meaning of it, you have to be relatively smart, to say the least. Inception plays with the spectator's mind, as well as the characters', from the beginning to the end.
The movie starts and gives you this question: "It's OK to steal information from the subconscious mind of someone, but how can you plant an original idea in their head, how can you plan an Inception inside their mind, if that serves your purpose?"
Inception has a lot of "Matrix-like" effects and concepts, but overall it is a movie on its own caliber.

A quote hard to forget is this (of course it's another thing hearing it from Marion Cotillard speaking to Ellen Page):
"Do you know what it is to be a lover? To be half of a whole? I'll tell you a riddle: You're waiting for a train. A train that will take you far away. You know where you hope this train will take you... But you don't know for sure. But it doesn't matter. How can it not matter to you where the train will take you?" DiCaprio walks in: "Because we'll be together."

Also, the wealthy father tells his son while on his death bed:
"-I'm dissapointed...
-I know. You're dissapointed in me, because I couldn't be like you...
-No. I'm dissapointed, because you tried..."

If you really "get" it, the movie will give you a lot of goose bumbs, and will send you to sleep at night with a new perspective on things, it may even cause a new resolution.
Watch it and let me know what you think.

"Bigger Stronger Faster" (2008) Documentary Review

Directed by Chris Bell. With Chris Bell. In America, we define ourselves in the superlative: we are the biggest, strongest, fastest country in the world. Is it any wonder that so many of our heroes are on performance enhancing drugs? Director Christopher Bell explores America's win-at-all-cost culture by examining how his two brothers became members of the steroid-subculture in an effort to realize their American dream.
A must-see.

"The Young Victoria" (2009) Film Review

Directed by Jean-Marc Vallée and starring Emily Blunt, Rupert Friend, Paul Bettany, "The Young Victoria" is a dramatization of the turbulent first years of Queen Victoria's rule, and her enduring romance with Prince Albert. An interesting true story, a movie not bad for its kind.

"Centurion" (2010) Review

A film by Neil Marshall, starring Michael Fassbender, Dominic West and Olga Kurylenko. A splinter group of Roman soldiers fight for their lives behind enemy lines after their legion is decimated in a devastating guerrilla attack. Good fighting "braveheart" like scenes, and an overall good epic movie.

"The Joneses" (2009) Review

Add caption
Directed by Derrick Bort, starring David Duchovny and Demi Moore, this movie is about a seemingly perfect family that moves into a suburban neighborhood, but when it comes to the truth as to why they're living there, they don't exactly come clean with their neighbors. It's a must for whoever's into sales and marketing and overall, an interesting to watch movie.

"The Fourth Kind" (2009) Review

This one was recommended by my nephew who loves thrillers. Starring Milla Jovovich and Elias Koteas, directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi, "The Fourth Kind" is a thriller involving an ongoing unsolved mystery in Alaska, where one town has seen an extraordinary number of unexplained disappearances during the past 40 years and there are accusations of a federal cover up. Pretty cool.

"The Secret in their Eyes" (2009) Review

My niece told me she watched this movie a few days ago and she thought it was one of the best she'd ever seen, one of her TOP 5. I had to watch it. The movie is from Argentina and it's called "The secret in their eyes"  ( El Secreto de sus Ojos) by Jose Campanella. It won the 2010 Oscar for Best Foreign Film. I couldn't agree with her more.

"Repo Men" (2010) Review

I've just finished watching the new movie "Repo Men" by Miguel Sapochnik.
Starring Jude Law, Forrest Whitaker, Alice Bragga, this movie is an amazing look into the future where humans would have to buy artificial organs at very high prices. When they can't afford to pay the installments anymore, Repo Men come in and claim back their organs.
This movie is packed with action, love and inspiration and has an unexpected ending. There's a great scene towards the end which I loved featuring the song "Sing it back" by Moloko, which made my hair to stand up!
